This one is pretty “solid” and everything works fairly well out of the box.

MAKE SURE YOU FLASH JB GAPPS AFTER FLASHING ROM!!!

To get Superuser working, flash the following zip file in CWM then under Preferences->Security->Automatic response, set to “Allow”. ¬†Wifi Tether app isn’t compatible with Jelly Bean yet (that’s why not working) but Titanium Backup app works fine.

Download Superuser RC2

Sorry but this ROM is HORRIBLE I only ONLY use the Roms posted on this site i’ve looked at a few but i found that this is the place to be but for being gone for so long and to come back with this Poor-Jelly Bean version is just not acceptable. It wont even let me get into the system settings it keeps on saying “Unfortunately Settings has Stop” i tried wipeing it and reinstalling it and well the same thing. But from what i did get to see and use from this rom (I’m coming from the Milestone 5 ROM that sometimes lags badly but other then that has the most tweaking aval.) you cant do much with it i really dislike the not being able to adjust the font/letter sizing through-out the settings, i prefer the smaller lettering looks alot cleaner. But I did like the lock screen and how the weather was nicely displayed there even tho it didnt really work (major lag) but the visual affect when u go to move the slider was nice and the Font of everything on that Lockscreen was very nice. Also I like the “Notification Pull-Down” the black and white is/was perfectly displayed.

Personally if you can take all of the options from the AOKP Milestone 5 ROM and put it into this new Jelly-Bean Rom with some extra eye-candy and perhaps a built-in Beat Box or Voodoo sound EQ, you would have the very best ROM in my mind anyways. Also I have another question/suggestion for the Camera it supposed to be able to zoom in & out if not why???? And can you make it avaliable for all of us who im sure really want it. My wifes Sony thats 1yr 6mnths old can zoom now for alot newer phone and better phone we should be able to zoom.

Anyways I’m glad your back its nice to have you back for all of us Nexus Users. Now just come out with a fully customizable ROM that’ll make and put everyone in awwwwww!!!!!!!!!

    • Nexus S Hacks says:

Yes, AOKP should be a BEAST, I just put this out there so you can try the stock Jelly Bean then feel the difference when you flash the AOKP JB!

    • LoganX says:

Hi just wondering how did you fix your setting problem because i am having the same problem after updating my nexus s from ics to jelly bean. I tried hard resetting it back to factory default but all it did was get rid of all my previously installed app, contacts, and settings which i can’t access now. I’m a android noob so if possible can you walk me through on how you were able to regain access to settings. Thanks

    Hi Folks,

I like the new features includes in JB (Nexus S 9023), but they do not work well yet in total.
I just updated from 4.0.4 to this JB 4.1.1 and have following challenges:

    1. After benchmarking with Quadrant I got a worse resultof 1250 points…(compared to 1460 points with 1460MHz-I/O performance weak, since SDaprtition almost full…).
    2. After checking “setcpu” I recognized, that OC is not possible (only 1000MHz). Also the “performance” setting with “systems settings” is inactive…
    3. Superuser rights seem to work, although I could not find “Preferences->Security->Automatic response” in the system settings….

So in total this ROM (CPU 1000MHz) has less performance than ICS 4.0.4 with OC (1300 MHz). Relativley it does not seem very much quicker yet (less bugs,..). Maybe that changes, when updates are available again.
I consider to go back to 4.0.4.

    Best, Rudolf

    • Rolf2000 says:

      Addition:

      I am using Kernel Version: 3.0.8 g6656123 android-build@vpbs1 #1…
      CyanogenMod version : 10-20120718-unofficial – crespo

Maybe a different kernel improves performance….?

    • Rolf2000 says:

The google camera does not work, the gallery as well, etc.
      Wait for a better release.

    • Nexus S Hacks says:

Benchmarking does not work correctly, Quadrant does not support JB yet.

This is still “beta” it just came out, you can always restore your old ROM if you have problems.

  4. Geeez says:

Guys, upgrade from ics to official ota..it’s the fastest rom i’ve tried..I don’t care about benchmarks..the UI is absolutely incredible and the phone is not even oc

  5. JohnD says:

I flashed this ROM on the advice of this web site expecting stock-like stability: I have since discovered CM 10 is an ‘alpha’ (an experimental ROM) release but, no mention of the status of this ROM on http://nexusshacks.com?. This ROM is buggy and does ‘not a lot’ for viability of a perfectly working stock ROM. If you want to try it, sure – go ahead. It lasted only minutes on my phone when I started to get stop massages…

In short, I am disappointed that nexusshacks.com chose to published this ROM with no mention as to it’s status – just a waist of time…..

  6. Alex says:

looks good but when i wanna go in ”setting” , force close force close.. :(

  7. aaron says:

  8. simon says:

I downloaded and installed this – it’s great and fast etc. I have partial Google Now functionality …when i speak just dots show up (looks like braille!) until the third line…and google doesnt seem to return any answers to questions.
I get those google now sample cards….anyone else see anything like this or got suggestions?

  12. jsp says:

  13. Angel says:

Is anyone else running into the issue of google now? Anytime I try to ask a command it stays stuck listening and doesnt search.

    • Simon says:

@Angel…I had that problem…did a complete data wipe (factory reset, cache, dalvik) and re-installed ROM and it works now.

      • Angel says:

Still having the same issue did all the wipes within recovery and redownloaded and installed the rom and JB apps. Any other possible solutions?

  14. floh says:

jb is just amazing and i can actually taste the Butter ^^. I’m currently on some modified stock rom and it got already much better performance than my overclocked (1,2 GHz) ics cyperGR… it’s incredible!!

  15. Mitchell Goudie says:
