For this week, check out AOSP Strawberry Jelly Bean ROM for your rooted Nexus S.

This AOSP Strawberry ROM is built straight from Android 4.1.2 sources, brings you some of the latest 4.1.2 enhancements and some tweaks. Although many of you probably are updating to official Android 4.1.2 (which I will also have a guide for those of you on custom ROMs), give this ROM a try for this week and let me know what you think!

How heavy is the battery drain? I know the “Google issued” JB was a battery killer on my Nexus S… (so much so that I rolled back to CM9.1

    Cheers

  2. rolf2000 says:

It is the best ROM I ever had. Installed it on my JB in recovery mode(zip file). No cache clearance. Thank you Max.It is quicker and smoother. A must for everyone.
I use a battery App to optimize consumption.
    Best

  3. Mike97 says:

    HI
IM WRITING THIS DUE TO A ISSUE I THINK EVERYONE IS HAVING.
1ST OFF I THINK THIS SITE IS GREAT AND YOU DO A GOOD JOB, SOME ROMS ARE GOOD, SOME ARE FRIGGIN GREAT AND THEN THERE’S SOME IN WHICH MY 3YR OLD CAN DO A BETTER JOB. IN MY OPINION THE VERY VERY BEST ROM THAT I’VE USED IS THE AOKP – MILESTONE 5. ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING CAN BE CUSTOMIZED IN IT. PLUS THE BIGGY I GET WAY WAY WAY MORE BATTERY LIFE OUT OF IT.
NOW MY COMPLAINT IS THAT IN EVERY SINGLE ROM IN EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM DURING THE TUTORIAL THAT YOU HAVE MADE YOU SAY “SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER IF YOU ALREADY HAVEN’T, AND RECEIVE THE ROM-OF-THE-WEEK, EVERY WEEK!!!!!!
NOW I DON’T KNOW ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE HERE BUT I RECEIVE A NEW ROM ONCE A MONTH NOT NO WEEKLY. ONE EVERY MONTH. SO WHY IS THIS LIKE THIS????
YOU USED TO HAVE A NEW ROM EVERY WEEK SOMETIMES 2 N A WEEK WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE GOOD OL’DAYS???
SO WHATS HAPPENING HERE IS THIS GOING TO CHANGE AT ALL HOPEFULLY FOR THE BETTER.

PS- PLEASE COME OUT WITH A AOKP-JELLY BEAN MILESTONE ROM THAT WOULD BE THE ABSOLUTE BEST.

    • Nexus S Hacks says:

Sorry I am trying my best here, it used to be easy until everyone started making Android, anyways, will try to do at least 1 per week!

      • A.J. says:

thanks buddy i love your roms and ur whole site it rocks its the very best i wont even bother looking online for different roms that you dont make. You do the very best wasnt trying to be rude in my comment i just miss the days when you had a new rom every-week posted. Can you also try to get a AOKP Milestone for the JellyBean it’ll be the very best one of them all.

  6. Ben says:

HI! Works very good. What kernel guys are using with this?

  7. caschleen says:

How can I tell which Nexus S models this is for? I have GT-I9020T.

    Thanks!

  8. Dimitar Valchev says:

I Install that ROM but its still saying “android” with flash coming underline and that’s it. any ideas ? Did I just brick my phone?

  9. A.J. says:

Max, I have a problem here and can use your knowledge & help please. I unlocked and rooted my nexus s awhile back from the gingerbread to Ice cream sandwich and used your site to do this now i was running the milestone 5 wild rom buddy it rocks, now i was messing around with my phone and really wantd to put the stock Jelly Bean 4.1.1 on it cuz i never really liked any of the Jelly Bean ROMS you have (no offence-i love the work you do) okay so i had a rom stored on my computer and i installed it onto my phone but didnt flash it the ROM is called – STOCK-JRO03E-SOJU..JELLY.BEAN-STOCK- Now i accidentally flashed it stupid me and now for some reason its saying that the bootloaders unlocked but the phone isnt completely rooted. Now am i able to use the same software tutorial thing you have posted for rooting ur phone n unlocking it & going from Gingerbread to ICS. But now im on Jelly Bean so im kindve stuck here cuz ur first steps with the usb drivers (samsung-drivers) im supposed to download the “nexussrootedICS.zip” now why would i use that when im on jelly bean??? and i did all the rest of the steps and still it isnt working when i go into recovery and try to flash a ROM it starts then i get the red triangle over the android im kinda lost now i can get into the recovery right be4 it i get a blue screen that says teamwin or twrpwin i think im not to sure then i get to the folders but when i hit the mount key/button whatever u wanna call it, it doesnt do anything & thats where im supposed to install the superuser.zip unless i unplug my phone and plug it back in then it goes to that but when i reboot i still am not rooted. also when im at the screen where it has all the folders in the middle of it at the bottom theres a lil selection that has 2-3 little lines i hit that and it says sd unavaliable or directory something along those lines.

Anyways im lost dont no what i can do to get my phone back to the way it was or flash any roms for that matter.\
    please help me

  10. mayur says:

which ih best?? aokp jb build.. or aokp milestone..
please repli.. thnk yu in advance..

  11. Telma says:

I got it on my phone a couple of days ago and everything is great except for this one app that won’t work no matter what, it won’t even open. If I uninstall and install again, it will work once and then never again until I uninstall and install it again. It’s a silly game, (Bakery Story, I’m ashamed to say) but I don’t get this trouble with any other app and I did’nt get it either with the previous custom rom I had before.

I’m a noobie and I don’t really have a clue on what to do about it, should I give up on this one rom and go back to the old one? Or is there anything I can do about it and keep it?

    Thanks

  12. caschleen says:

I would still like to know what models of Nexus S this is for? I have a GT-I9020T and do not want to brick my phone if this is not a compatible ROM! Thank you again.
