For those of you who want to best of Jelly Bean ROM and customizations, you might want to take a look at either AOKP(Nexus S ONLY) or Codename Jelly Bean ROM (Nexus S and S 4G). These two are probably the two best Jelly Beans ROMs out for the Nexus S right now.

In the video, you will see slightly different configurations in UI customization between the two ROMs and I think both are great in terms of that. Which one is right for you?

Well, you can give them both a try and let me know what you think I have slight preference for Codename though.

I take it you were bust, been a while since your last post?

  2. Pieterjan says:

I’m using codename for a day now, and it’s the best jellybeanrom i’ve used.
Something I wanted to add to the video: you can add two custom widgets to your lockscreen, it’s somewhere on the bottom of the lockscreenmenu.

Any news about what’s going to happen to your youtubechannel?

  3. Ken says:

Hi Max, do these ROMs have overclocking & power control features in the notification area?
Also what are the best kernels to run with these ROMs?

  4. Muharem says:

Hi Max. I used Codename rom today, and i didn’t found it as smooth as you were pretending. And then I saw that NFC was on, so i turned it off and now my phone is way much faster :)

Keep doing a great job !

  5. Beddamade says:

I am going to try Codename. I just want to ask, what Kernel do you like for that ROM and what is the status of overclocking the ROM?

  6. frizzen says:

I’m using AOKP + Air Kernel, great combo, very smooth and incredibly fast..!
    you must try it guys…!

  7. frizzen says:

  8. beddamade says:

I just install the Codename ROM and it is over clocked to 1.4. I am now recovering from Titanium Backup. But so far I love the ROM. The only problem i had so far was getting the Amazon App Store to work. It would not accept my username and password. The issue was I had to many devices connected. I had to deregistered my old Devices. Just a FYI if you use Amazon App Store.

  9. Justin says:

Is anyone able to get swype installed on Codename?

  10. Danny says:

both rom gallery and music player still can’t load any picture or music from SD card, anyone know how to fix this bug or problem?? thank you so much!!!!!

  11. eyelid says:

Repeatedly getting stuck in the same bootloop error with Codename 3.3.2. Had it up and running briefly but it has either rebooted repeatedly on its own, or after manually rebooting it hangs infinitely.
Have tried everything, every combination possible multiple times over, and the error is always repeatable but there is not one specific thing that sets it off. Multiple kernels (latest matrix & air both), re-flashing, formatting absolutely everything including sd and usb storage and then starting from square one. Occasionally triggered by app downloading / installation from Play store, but not always; also it’s a different app each and every time. BTW, not restoring apps via TB or any other method, but rather manually one at a time. Doesn’t matter. Something’s up with this rom, because it isn’t specific to one kernel. I’m out of combinations to try, and unfortunately for the moment out of patience.

Going to put this down and walk away, and maybe come back later to try AOKP.

I’m using AOKP 4.0.4 ICS ROM on my nexus s and I’ll be soon switching to galaxy s3 giving my nexus s to my dad…
he only uses the phone to call(around 2 hrs minimum daily) and very very minimal data consumption(checking mails)
so i wanted to know which ROM is very stable and gives a long lasting battery for voice calls
(the one which i am using is pretty good)
my question is is there is any better ?
