    Hey Guys
    great site…
I have a Nexus s I bought in Australia through Vodafone. I rooted it using your instructions which worked great except I ended up with no ROM and the phone stuck on the Google screen. I got it going by adding the Cyanogen ROM but then had no mobile access. I tried to add the Vodafone APNs copying them from another phone but when I tap “save” they do not save. I got he phone going again by loading a Sense UI ROM but its a little glitchy.
I would really like the Cyanogen! Any Ideas would be much appreciated……

  9. Vins says:

    Hi,

First of all, thanks for the very informative tutorial. I was able to root my Nexus S by following your steps on “How to root NexusS”.

I’m now trying to install Cyanogen but after selecting the “recovery” it just displays yellow exclamation mark and nothing happens. Have you experience this and able to solve the issue? Although I was able to create a backup before trying to install the ROM. I was in Android 2.3.4 before rooting my phone. Unfortunately that’s all the information that I have.

    Thanks,
    /Vins

  10. Vins says:

Don’t worry about it. I flash the recovery image and I was able to go to recovery mode after that.

    Thanks again.

I guess the question now is what’s next? :)

    Regards,
    /Vins

    Ajay.

    • Nexus S Hacks says:

You need to root your phone first, did you do that?

      • Ajay Khasnabis says:

yes i hv modded it sucessfully.

      • Ajay Khasnabis says:

ok now i hv tried another rom, still the same issue.

        • BrionS says:

I got this too, but the easy fix is to go back to your rooting instructions and re-flash the recovery image (i.e. run the fastboot flash recovery recovery3101.img again) then re-enter the bootloader and go into recovery. At that point the previous installation is likely to continue. If not, you can start over and try again.

  15. I seen that you found the CM7 ROM + Trinity Kernel – Best Nexus S 4G ROM for the nexus s but I Wana know is there the same for the nexus s cause I have a root phone and waiting for some thing that will blow me away . I’m hopeing that it works and if not can you let me know

    • Nexus S Hacks says:

You can flash the same kernel on the regular Nexus S but I found that the regular Nexus S couldn’t handle the 1.544Ghz OC, you can give it a try though.

      • emmanuel says:

OK cool ill try it I’m not really worry bout the oc but I justwsnt to know if the rom and kernal was mentioned to be on my phone and if it would work since the its for nexus s 4g that’s all so thanks ill give it a shot
