I haven’t gone back to CM10.1 ROM for awhile now on my Nexus S but I tried the latest CM10.1 nightlies and WOW, what a difference it made in performance.

I am used to running other AOSP ROMs with lots of customization but the latest CM10.1 nightlies are pretty darn good as far as multi-tasking between large applications like graphic-intensive games. Also you will get the latest Android 4.2.2 with stability you can depend on.

Best of all, Nexus S and Nexus S 4G are still being supported “officially” by the CyanogenMod team.

CM10.1 ROMs don’t offer as much customization as other custom ROMs but if you are looking for stability and raw performance, definitely check out the latest CM10.1 on your Nexus S or Nexus S 4G and do let me know what you think!

To install, reboot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset (unless coming from CM10.1), install ROM, install Gapps, and reboot.

To fix GoogleNow not working, simply update the Google Search app in Play Store.

I’m using the 10.1 M2 and i love it! I miss the custumization of other roms, but it’s stable as a stable version of cm :) It’s a waste that the developpers are leaving crespo, but if cm doesn’t do that, i’m not much worried!

  2. Prizinio says:

hello i have just installed this rom in my nexus s I9023 but in system settings i do not have the tab “Performance”..what’s going on with this? maybe performance is only available in nexus s 4g?

    • Kenneth says:

Go to Settings -> About Phone -> Tap the build number 7 times. Performance option is activated with the developer options :)

Hi, this is not related to this ROM but I have a question.
Is everyone using Voodoo Control for washed out nexus s display problem?
if so and you’re on 4.2.1 or 4.2.2, why does the “Green” on gamma setting doesn’t go down more than -28?..
didn’t it go below that before? isn’t the best setting around -50s?
please please please someone help.. if there are any other apps that can fix this, let me know.
Also, why is the battery draining so much on the screen even if I keep the brightness lowest?
it takes up more than 50 percent at the end of the day..

    please let me know
    thank you

After installing 10.1 on my Nexus S 4G, when I rebooted I get CyanogenMod Circles running on the screen. Phone will not boot up past that. ???? Can you help?

    • prizinio says:

Try to re install the mod but be sure to swipe your sd card first..!

      • Mark Yonge says:

Thanks for response. I thought of that and will do a re-install. Thought I might also do a new download of the 10.1 before reinstalling. Will let you know what happens. Amazing how difficult it is to be without a phone. (I forgot to back up the phone before installing 10.1) although I think have a back up in Wurfurg?? Rooting software.

        • Mark Yonge says:

Re-installed CM10.1 ROM and phone is working. Also installed the newest nightly – 20130410 April 9 2013. Seems to be working fine. Phone is still updating Apps , Contacts, etc. from Google.

Thanks for your help. Look forward to learning what 4.2.2 has to offer different than 4.1. curious about setting min/max speed on processor. Followed your advice to set on 1200 but do you set min and max to that setting?

          Thanks

What’s the best kernel for CM10.1?

    • KUUN.K says:

I usually try Matrix, Air, and marmite. one day each. I’m sure everyone has different thoughts after using diff kernels. you decide which one to go with. for me, I’m good with marmite.
