    Hey Max,

Just ordered the Nexus S 4G from Sprint and I’m excited to get it rooted and set up with CM7. Do you know if I should be cautious doing this because of 4G WiMaX Keys or will it be exactly the same as a regular Nexus S root/re-image? Great site btw, your videos are really helpful. Thanks!

    Dear Max,

    Great site.

The SGS i9100, which the Nexus S is modelled on, has a SDHC slot on it, which is omitted from the Nexus S.
Does the hardsware still exists in some shape or form on the Nexus S, and if so, then do you or others know if some brave soul has soldered a micro SDHC ucb connector onto the pins?

    Regards, S

    Hi Max,

    Great site.

If I may ask, I have a google nexus s using Koodo that I imaged with blandroid (all went well) but then I got a forced update from my provider for gingerbread 2.3.6 and my phone lost all traced of connectivity to my provider (so no phone/3g data). it doesn’t even show Telus or Koodo networks anymore.

I formatted every partition and wiped every bit of info I could find on it and reimaged to stock as best I could but to no avail.

Any Ideas how to fix it so it’s not just an expensive media device or am I looking at getting a new phone.??

Hey Max, I used your youtube video to root my nexus s, im not very good with technology but I did do everything I believe. But now everytime I turn it on it has a caution sign and a android guy standing by it. I can turn it on though. Another thing is whenever I try to get a ROM through superuser it turns off my phone & restarts all my programs. Please help! Haha\

    Thanks

    Hi Max

Great site, love it. I rooted my nexus s yesterday and I already had ics downloaded before root and i downloaded a package containing the face unlock but when i clicked on it it froze the phone and I tried everything but it wouldn’t turn on so I came on your website and then unrooted it using your instructions and it all worked and then took me back to 2.3.6 not 4.0.3 so I went to download the ics file again but it didn’t work after several times of trying I decided to root again but then I rooted it using the ics root not the other file so it half rooted it then I soon realised that to get ics I needed to do usb debugging but when I did that and went on the recovery menu it didn’t open it just got stuck on the Google logo and then I managed to unroot it and know i am stuck and cannot get on the recovery menu.

    PLEASE HELP

    Thanks

    Isaac

    Hi Max
    Great site, love it.

I have a problem,When i tried to install the CodeName ICS ROM i get an error, Installation aborted
/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log. what should i do?. I am running stock 4.0.3 at the moment.

  14. David R says:

I could really use some experienced help here. A few months ago I was able to install ICS 4.04 on my Nexus S 4G. So far I really like the look and feel of it. However, there’s a minor flaw with what I set out to do……Apparently when I thought I was rooting Nexus S 4G and doing the install, all I ended up doing is unlocking the boot loader. I’ve since found a few apps that I would like to use but can’t use them since My Nexus isn’t rooted
Presenting me with a few head aches. How can I fix this without bricking my phone?

  15. Jacob Smith says:

I have a nexus s with the new update and I am trying to root it. When i download the SU file and open it, there is no zip. All that shows up are two folders: system, and META-INF. Can you please help me because there isn’t a zip file, only the two folders. Thanks

  22. Mike97 says:

Max i just wanted to tell you that my phones motherboard is “dead” and i lost every thing from my 13 GB of storage and it will take up to a month to get fixed.. As i was holding it, it stuck.. and i thought that it would reboot as every time, well it didn’t.. I was running AOKP JellyBean Build 1 and Air kernel Stable release 1.. Thats all, I would never blame any one for this, is something that you know it might happen when rooting.. Now i will wait for my fixed nexus s ready to root again.. :)

  23. cassy says:

my nexus s stopped working and it wont turn (its not out of battery) and i went to the shop and they said they need to restore it but i want to back it up and the computer is not reading my phone. is there any chance of me backing up my data because i dont want to loose all my memory.

    • Mike97 says:

This hapend to me too.. as u can see litle higher.. its burned so sorry for your data but if you waranty still valid you can go to the shop you bought it an tell them that it stoped working (DON’T TELL THEM ABOUT ROOT).. and they will make it new.. :)

  24. Mike97 says:

Hi Max its me again.. This time i wond to ask u about the phone’s kernel.. Now i am running Air Kernel weekly Build 224 on Stock JB.. is it possible to flash matr1x Kernel without any factory reset..??? Do i have to format every time i wond to flash a kernel or can i just flash one after an other..? (WITHOUT HAVING ANY FORCE CLOSE!)

    • Jatin Gohel says:

i have installed factory image of jelly bean 4.1.1. Befor i have rooted my nexus s. and installed the ROM from this site. but i am not able to uninstall the Superuser so i have install the factory image and it removes super user. and now its working fine.

  25. Mark Cooper says:

Hi, I have a rooted Nexus S 4G and I was in the process of installing a new rom using TWARP. I did all the usual things like factory wipe, delvak cache wipe etc. and then flashed the zip file and rebooted my phone. My phone rebooted to the Google screen with the unlocked icon and then went to the black screen. The navigation buttons are lit up but I don’t get an animation screen or anything else. I tried several battery pulls and went back into recovery and tried wiping and installing the rom , but with the same results. I then flashed touch clockwork mod and wiped my phone again and tried reinstalling the rom, but still just the black screen. I tried restoring my phone to a previous rom that I had backed up on my phone but that did not fix the problem. I am running out of ideas. I hope I have not just ruined my phone for good. Does anybody have any ideas how or why this is happening and how to fix it? Thanks.

    • mike says:

you might need to give it some time and I will boot.. if that doesn’t help, you should try flashing other roms.. if you had a backup on TWARP its normal that you can’t restore using CWM.. hope this helps.. you could also try out the nexus root toolkit (http://goo.gl/0K6eh) this will make your life easier..

    • Neeraj says:

Just unroot your phone by the process given under unroot nexus s 4g
