How to Root Nexus S and Nexus S 4G on ICS, Gingerbread, or Jelly Bean!

Here’s an updated guide on how to root your Nexus S and Nexus S 4G on Jelly Bean, ICS, Gingerbread. This new method also installs TWRP recovery instead of ClockworkMod Recovery.

Warning: Unlocking your Nexus S/Nexus S 4G will wipe your personal settings/data/internal storage!

Step 1. Power off your Nexus S or Nexus S 4G.

Step 2. Boot into fastboot mode by holding down both Volume Down and Power buttons together.

Step 3. Once in fastboot mode, connect your Nexus S/Nexus S 4G to your computer via micro-USB cable.

AOKP MR1 Build 6 ROM for Nexus S 4G!

For this week’s ROM of the week for the Nexus S 4G, check out AOKP MR1 Build 6 ROM. This is actually an “unofficial” port but it is built from sources and does even have features that the real Build 6 doesn’t. (This is because it’s built from sources, you might also get new features AOKP is working on atm.)

AOKP MR1 Build 6 ROM is certainly more stable than ever with more features than ever. If you like stability of CM10.1 but want to get some more customization out of it, definitely give the AOKP ROM a try this week(end) and do let me know what

CM10.1 ROM for Nexus S/S 4G! [Android 4.2.2]

I haven’t gone back to CM10.1 ROM for awhile now on my Nexus S but I tried the latest CM10.1 nightlies and WOW, what a difference it made in performance.

I am used to running other AOSP ROMs with lots of customization but the latest CM10.1 nightlies are pretty darn good as far as multi-tasking between large applications like graphic-intensive games. Also you will get the latest Android 4.2.2 with stability you can depend on.

Best of all, Nexus S and Nexus S 4G are still being supported “officially” by the CyanogenMod team.
