Here’s an updated guide on how to root your Nexus S and Nexus S 4G on ICS or Gingerbread. This new method also installs TWRP recovery instead of ClockworkMod Recovery.
Warning: Unlocking your Nexus S/Nexus S 4G will wipe your personal settings/data/internal storage!
Step 1. Power off your Nexus S or Nexus S 4G.
Step 2. Boot into fastboot mode by holding down both Volume Down and Power buttons together.
Step 3. Once in fastboot mode, connect your Nexus S/Nexus S 4G to your computer via micro-USB cable.
Step 4. For Linux
Bugless Beast ICS ROM for Nexus S and Nexus S 4G is one of Matr1x kernel developer MathKid95′s favorite ROM (he told me).
You won’t find any of the AOKP features (that I like) like ROM Control but you will find a highly-polished ROM that gives you “zero bugs” with performance and battery enhancements.

This is an updated overview and since last time the CyberGR-MOD ICS ROM has improved a quite a bit by including new features like 3G/HSPA tweaks, full GPU hardware acceleration, CyberGR-Mod Control in settings, and a ton of new features.

If you haven’t tried Codename ICS ROM for your Nexus S or Nexus S 4G, try the latest version that comes with Android 4.0.4 update and a whole lot of goodies. Here’s an update on the Gummy ICS ROM, now comes in Android 4.0.4 flavor, a ton of cool things like its own Gummy settings, boot animation where the cat farts rainbows, and a whole lot more.

CM9 is certainly one of the best ROMs you can run on your Nexus S and Nexus S 4G and right now is probably one of the best times to flash this as everything works flawless. Get your overclock on to 1.46Ghz too with Matr1x kernel or your favorite Nexus S kernel!

Here’s an updated overview of the Crossbones ICS ROM for both Nexus S and Nexus S 4G. I know this was one of the best ICS ROMs when custom ICS ROMs were first available on the Nexus S phones and still, I kinda like it that it gives you “pure” ICS experience without any additives.

Here’s an update on CM9 ICS ROM for Nexus S and Nexus S 4G. Last time I installed it, it was one of the first ICS ROMs available and very buggy. Well, the recent version 3.0 ROMs are probably one of the best out there.
